As we reach the middle of November (2022) we are way into Autumn now, and I’ve been gradually making my wildlife photography hide better. This weekend my main focus has been the feeding stations and improving the perches.
By wandering around the area and picking up interesting mossy pieces of wood, I’ve now a collection of interesting perches.

I’m getting a good selection of small birds to the spot and the same birds are becoming regulars. I also had a visit from a small group of Voles as you’ll see in the photographs below.
I really need to build a solid wood platform for inside the hide so my chair doesn’t gradually sink into the soft ground. That will be next weekend’s task.

With the nights being dark and working a 9 to 5, I’ll only be able to go top up the feeders every other morning. But I’ll keep whittling away at it and see what I can come up with. It’d be good to get my hands on some Tree Trunks to sink into the ground and pack them with suet.
The wildlife visitors so far are: Robin / Coal Tit / Chaffinch / Dunnock / Blue Tit / Great Tit / Nuthatch / Vole / Grey Squirrel / Long-tailed Tit

Here are some photographs from this weekend’s wildlife photography session.

What’s next for my wildlife photography hide?
I need to build a full floor for my hide and add some shelving. I’m also going to be experimenting with reflector panels near the feeder to bounce some nice light around.
I plan to build more of my log Vole habitat and place some Wildlife Cameras down there to be able to watch and observe them.
Fingers crossed we’ll see some more species of bird come in and hopefully a Woodpecker. Tawny Owls can be heard in the woods that the hide is in so it’s possible we may see them pop up on the trail cameras.
